Each vespagram has been processed at the backazimuth optimal for X or SX Fig. This source is not clear in the 8—12 s band, and its seasonality suggests that P-waves are generated by the interaction of storms producing short-period signals.

The LORAN timing data is used to remodulate the LORAN signal in block 2304; its output is subtracted from the main input signal at summer 2305. The maximum of the cross correlation denotes maximal similarity between the traces and indicates the phase arrival on each trace.

The wavelet for a reference station is cross-correlated with each other trace. The eddylike SSHAs are largely manifestations of symmetric Rossby waves, which result primarily from intraseasonal wind stress forcing in the equatorial waveguide and reflection of the equatorial Kelvin waves at the eastern boundary. The analysed P waves are secondary microseisms, which are represented by the equivalent sea surface pressures inferred from ocean wave modelling Ardhuin et al.

Seasonality of P wave microseisms from NCF
