This time was still promising. The summit was overcrowded, so we did not stay long. has about five buses a day from Oslo which go via airport. I skied down in the most precise plow-style I could to descend as safely as possible. Even though I regard myself as a good skier I worked several years as a ski instructorthis was only my second trip on back country skies in my life.
Our family of 5, including 3 kids ages between 13 and 7, did the climb Galdhøpiggen 22nd July, 2018. We had already decided as a family our position during Galdhøpiggen crossing but the guide rearranged us and Galdhøpiggen a moment, we thought my husband was the last one in the line, but then the guide attached himself to the rope and then walked ahead, yanking my Galdhøpiggen husband.
No matter where you're going, Touristlink gives you opportunity to get a real feel of the culture. This is the shortest route to the summit with an ascent of justy 600m, crossing the Styggebrean Glacier.
We were really careful, looking for the red "T"-s that mark the route. Time to climb a new peak! Having traversed the Styggebrean Glacier the route climbs an easy rocky ridge to the summit. It would be a disappointing full 7 hour hike Galdhøpiggen the summit was not clear. have trains from Oslo to Otto Galdhøpiggen where there are connecting buses to make the short ride to Lom.
This glacier has, however, in recent years, and Glittertind is now only 2464 m even including the glacier. Apart from the glacier, no equipment is required. The climbing break took in the end two months.
Other enthusiastic ski mountaineers headed up ahead and created a nice trail so we saved some time by not having to look for the best possible route. Winter ascents are simply amazing. There are some small sections of the glacier to Galdhøpiggen close to Galdhøpiggen summit and crampons may be required, particularly if the ice is exposed. The hight is fascinating, and Galdhopiggen is also relatively easy to reach.
We can probably make it to the summit and back before sunset, which is expected at 6:45 p. 2009-04-27 at the Sources [ ]• In the summer soft drinks, chocolate bars, postcards and other items are sold here. Our line was the last to cross the glacier, and just before we got to the end, the guide made us walk through puddles of defrosting glacial ice resulting in our shoes getting wet.
The Eastern approach from Spiterstulen is the easiest due to the minimal contact with glacier, with the Styggebrean Glacier being the most popular glacial approach from the North.
We finally got back to the glacier and had a quick sip of water before being attached to the ropes again.
The mountain is surrounded on three sides by expansive glacier with the exception being to the East.
