The bill also requires that the Secretary issue regulations providing for a periodic reauthorization process for participating food stores and that these regulations provide for periodic notice to participating stores of the definitions of "retail food store", "staple foods", "eligible foods", and "perishable foods"; 2 permits the use and disclosure of information provided by stores to State and Federal law enforcement and investigative agencies for the purposes of administering or enforcing the Food Stamp Act or any other Federal or State law and establishes penalties against persons who misuse any of the information; and 3 requires that the Secretary conduct demonstration projects in which State or local food stamp agencies can test new ideas for working with State or local law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute food stamp trafficking.
